Installing Exchange 2010 Standard Fails with Error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I get the following error when I try to install Exchange 2010 into a domain. It had Exchange 2007 but it was just installed as a test and I deinstalled it. Now I am trying to install the first Exchange 2010 server. The domain is at the 2008 level.

Hello
Are you done with Preparing schema, legacy permissions and AD ?
Before installing exchange 2010 in Co-existance scenario you need to prepare schema legacy permissions

I was having the same issue as the original poster. Deleting these two items from the AD fixed the problem for me. Thanks to the poster of this fix.
